At first, I started writing my piece out of mere curiosity. But as a result of participating in this competition, my view and cognition towards jazz have completely changed. In the process, I have not only attained a bigger appreciation for jazz music, but I believe that I have also acquired more knowledge and experience about this genre.

Crucial advice and assistance from the VCU professors particularly helped me to develop more into a better musician. And listening to the VCU Jazz Orchestra I's performance of my piece was the most exciting experience ever.
